Transmission Fluid Leak Jeep 3.6L V6

Hello to all my Complete Car Care Friends & soon to be Friends.

Here we have a Jeep for which my customer was complaining of a transmission fluid leak.

The engine is a 3.6L V6.

The 3.6L is a popular engine for Chrysler & Jeep products.

The oil leak trail was visible on the passengers' side of the automatic transmission.

What you see in the picture is the engine Oil Filter/Oil Cooler Assembly.

The tall part is the Oil Filter Housing.
Behind it is the Oil Cooler.

When you are looking at the engine in the engine compartment, you can easily see the oil filter housing.
The oil cooler however, is tucked under the Intake Manifold.

We pressure washed the transmission and went for a short freeway drive.

The oil leak trail is now visible on the drivers side of the transmission bell housing.

It's leaking from both sides.

The assembly in the picture was leaking engine oil into the engine valley and running out the back onto the transmission.

With a Bore Scope, we were able to reach under the Intake Manifold and locate the leak.

When we removed the manifold, we were able to verify our diagnosis.

It was an engine oil leak, not a transmission oil leak.
